Taking a taxi or DiDi

Without speaking Chinese. 4 steps, with phrases in Chinese to show.

  1. Step 1

    Order a DiDi

    In Alipay tap DiDi Travel on the home screen. Paste the place name in Chinese from your kit and choose a car. You pay with Alipay at the end.

  2. Step 2

    Check the plate

    Before getting in, check the plate matches the app. The driver may call you. If you cannot understand, send your location.

  3. Step 3

    Street taxi

    A free taxi shows a lit sign that says free. Show the address card big and ask for the meter.

  4. Step 4

    Pay and get out

    Pay with Alipay by scanning the code in the car, or cash. Take a photo of the plate in case you leave something.
